Maundy Thursday

Washing feet

Then Jesus poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him.

– John 13:5

It was a task

done by the servant

in this desert place.

But on this night,

it is the teacher

who wraps a towel

around his waist,

takes a basin of water,

kneels on the floor,

going from disciple to disciple,

a smile on his face,

full of love for these men,

full of joy for what he

is doing for them.

Cleansing them.

Loving them.

Near to each one.
